Reflections

The first lecture is about ICT in Science Education, in this lecture we learn about the important of ICT in school to attract the pupils to learn more about science. In other hands, we also discuss critically on issues and trends of implementing ICT applications in teaching and learning. As we know, today many challengers were faced by teacher in school to overcome this situation and to change the mind set of pupils and others teachers how to improve the science learning through ICT.

For the week two, in the lecture is about Smart School In Malaysia. Through this lecture we know about what Smart School is, how the progress so far Smart School in Malaysia, the challengers for teacher and how to overcome that problem.  Furthermore, we also discuss about issues related to Smart School in Malaysia.

Next, we learn about Ethics and Issues in ICT. In this lecture we learn about the values, benefits of ICT towards learning to improve teachers’ method to be used in learning sessions. The lecture through slide about what must to take action and precautions when we used ICT in learning. Lastly, we learns about benefits that we can get through when we understand what is right and what is wrong in ethics and issues in ICT.

The lecturer was explained about the Interactive White Board. We have been introduced to the new device that can be used as advanced teaching method that called "Smart Whiteboard". At first, we were told to install the smartboard software so that we can connect the laptop to the interactive white board. The SMART Board is a large whiteboard that uses touch technology for detecting user input that are equivalent to normal PC input devices, such as mice or keyboards. A projector is used to display a computer's video output onto the whiteboard, which then acts as a huge touchscreen. The SMART Board usually comes with 4 digital writing utensils that use digital ink replacing the traditional whiteboard markers. The digital ink works by using an active digitizer that controls the PC input information for writing capabilities such as drawing or handwriting. There are also buttons that launch a popup keyboard and a right-mouse-click menu for more input options. The interactive whiteboard is usually mounted on a wall or a floor stand and is used in face-to-face or virtual settings in education, business and government.

Next lecture is about E-Portfolio. These lectures are given on how to build up E-PORTFOLIO. Each student in UPSI must have one E-Portfolio. In this E-Portfolio, all assignment is compile together until our last semester. The important menu that must have in our E-Portfolio are about my self which are consist of my resume, my reflection and my teaching philosophy, professional development plan, assignment, lesson plan, gallery, reflection and resources.

For the next lecture, the lecture have give lecture about how to use Window Movie Maker. In this lesson, we can edit our video to become more perfect video and as the assignment we must do the short video and post in blog.

In our next lecture, we have learned about data logger, we have asked to construct one experiment. Every each of group must choose one experiment to create this data logger. The advantages in using data logger are the result are more accurate, save time in doing experiments, more experiments can be done using this data logger, experiment can be done repeatedly, enhanced computer literacy, better understanding of science concepts and opportunities for interdisciplinary projects.

For the last lecture, En. Azmi was explained to us what is simulation and modeling through Stella. Simulation is the exploration of existing models. ICT can uniquely illustrate concepts with the use of high quality multi media simulation enabling students to interact, reflect and develop their knowledge and understanding. Modeling is the expression of one's ideas by constructing one own model. Modeling conjures up many different pictures in science teaching and learning. Modeling using ICT enables students to explore the effects of changing data and relationships of physical systems, thus helping students to understand the phenomena involved. In our learning of simulation and modeling, we have taken one simulation as a assignment and we must do the report and must be submit.

STELLA SOFTWARE

Salam 1 Malaysia.....

In this post, i would like to share about how to using STELLA SOFTWARE..

Step 1:
Search STELLA SOFTWARE in Google. After found it, download, create an Account and Sign In.

Step 2:
After that, open the STELLA and it will appears like this:

Step 3:
Then to explore the function of STELLA. CLICK FILE > OPEN>CHOOSE FILE

Step 4:
After open file. Click CONDUCT EXPERIMENT for the next exploration

Step 5:
CLICK RUN to see the result for control set experimet

STEP 6:
To conduct experiment with variation parameter, change the parameter that have in that set of experiment.

GOOD LUCK!!

WHAT IS STELLA SOFTWARE

Assalamualaikum and Salam 1 Malaysia

For this session, I would to share about WHAT IS STELLA SOFTWARE..

Education and research are most exciting when they move out of the lecture hall and library and provide opportunity to create, experience, and see. STELLA® offers a practical way to dynamically visualize and communicate how complex systems and ideas really work.

Use STELLA to:
  • Simulate a system over time
  • Jump the gap between theory and the real world
  • Enable students to creatively change systems
  • Teach students to look for relationships – see the Big Picture
  • Clearly communicate system inputs and outputs and demonstrate outcomes

By using this software, we can get the data in short time and precise. To use the STELLA Software, first, we have to create an account before we sign in. Then, we have to download the software for windows. This free software are only able to use within 30 days.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Ethics In ICT

Ethical is set of standards of “rights” or “wrong” or “good” or “bad” in one’s conduct.Ethical issue in Information Techology (IT) were define in general. It was come out from our surrounding.

Ethical in IT is about “rights” and “duties” (Kallman and Grillo,1996). There are three “rights” which are “right to know”,”property right”, and “right to privacy”. The first one is about “right to know”. Right to know is about to know which extent to in using a database to access information. Secondlyis property right. To make sure our computer is being protected, we cannot misuse or abuse our computer. For example, we can protect our computer from viruses. Third is refer to right to privacy. The profesional was entrusted to protect the privacy and confidentiality of all information. Besides that, we are responsible to protect our password from being used by other people. We also are advise do not leave our confidential information on the screen without switch it off. In addition, one of the duties is confidential which is responsible to protect information from unauthorized access.

I. Formulation and justification of policies for the ethical use of ICT
„II. Carefully considered, transparent and justified actions leading to ICT outcomes

ICT in Science Education

The purpose of this report is to review the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in support of science education. It attempts to describe current practice and to identify and to clarify some of the issues that face schools and colleges in trying to improve the ways in which they make use of new technologies to enhance teaching and learning in science. It does not claim to comprehensively cover every aspect of ICT in science but aims to contribute to current thinking about this topic by presenting a practical and pragmatic evaluation of some of its key features.

According UNESCO a holistic and comprehensive approach to promoting ICT in education. Access, inclusion and quality are among the main challenges they can address. The Organization’s Intersectoral Platform for ICT in education focuses on these issues through the joint work of three of its sectors: Communication & Information, Education and Science

“We are examining our education system to create a curriculum where people learn how to learn so they can continue their education throughout the rest of their lives. The measure of success in 2020 will be the number and quality of our people who can add value to information.”

Window Movie Maker....

Introduction..

The process of creating a movie or a slide-show consists of importing media such as video, pictures, audio, or music into the program and then manipulating these same elements to create a specific product.  The interface is designed to provide visual access and management of imported elements in the collections pane.  Items from this area can be dragged into either a storyboard or timeline window and then edited.  From the monitor window, changes or additions made to the project can be sampled through playback. Once the desired effect has been achieved the combined project can be saved to the computer, to a CD, or sent to e-mail, to the web, or a DV (digital video) camera.
